Cindy Ann Cernohous Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce Cindy Ann Cernohous, of Sammamish, WA, passed away on Thursday afternoon, December 13, 2018 at her home due to natural causes. Cindy was 52 when Jesus called her to heaven. Cindy was born on November 21, 1966 in Oconomowoc, WI, the daughter of Art and Mary (Collenburg) Schwibinger. She graduated from Oconomowoc High School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She married her fellow UW Marching Band alumnus Paul Cernohous on Okauchee Lake in 2002 and was raising her son, Luke, with whom she was blessed in 2008. Music was a central part to her life, from her involvement in several ensembles in high school, earning her degree in music education while a member of the University of Wisconsin Marching Band, teaching high school band in Mineral Point, WI, practicing and performing with fellow Band alumni and friends, or helping Luke as he started playing trumpet. Cindy enjoyed meeting people and helping others, as she demonstrated during her time as a WeightWatchers leader. She was baptized at Snoqualmie Valley Alliance Church and enjoyed her time with that group of friends. Her favorite holiday was Halloween, and since she knew so many neighbors, she would help the kids with their costumes, including makeup. Cindy loved to bake and designed cakes for events, including her own wedding cake. As a former educator, she volunteered on several occasions at Lukes school and would often come home with sore hands from all the high fives from Luke and his classmates. Cindy is survived by her loving husband Paul and her son Luke; parents Art and Mary (Collenburg) Schwibinger of Oconomowoc, WI; and brother Terry (Gina) Schwibinger of Bollingbrook, IL; and numerous additional family and friends she met and impacted during her life. A celebration of Cindys life will take place on Friday January 11th at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Oconomowoc, WI at 7 pm with visitation starting at 6 pm. The address is N60W35980 Lake Drive. There will also be a memory observance in Madison on Saturday January 12th at the practice field starting promptly at 1240 pm. We will gather at the Red Zone (1212 Regent St.) for another life celebration from 1-4 pm in Badger attire with a 5th Quarter celebration beginning at 2 pm. Feel free to bring any photos or memories to share and your instrument if you would like to play the 5th Quarter. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Cindys memory to the Snoqualmie Valley Alliance Church (http://svachurch.org/give), the Michael Leckrone Director of Marching Bands Fund at the University of Wisconsin (http://supportuw.org/giveto/leckronetribute), or the Oconomowoc High School music program (Attn: Mr. Mike Krofta 641 E. Forest Street Oconomowoc, WI 53066).
