Tom Goolsby
1956-02-22 2001-04-27
Willie Thomas (Tom) Goolsby entered into eternal rest on April 27, 2001 at Hospice Family Care in Mesa, Arizona.
Tom was born in Athens, Georgia on February 22, 1956 to Cecile Marable Goolsby and the late Willie Ervin Goolsby. He grew up in the Albany, New York area. Tom was confirmed at the Cathedral of All Saints in Albany under the leadership of Rt. Rev. David Ball. He was a member of the male choir and later served as an acolyte at All Saints. He graduated from Shaker High School in 1975.
Tom became a certified plumber-pipe fitter and while in the Albany area was a member of Plumber Pipe Fitter's Local #7.
Tom left Albany in 1982 to settle in Tempe, Arizona, where he continued to work at his trade. He was employed at Intel for over 10 years and later owned his own home inspection business (J & J Home Inspection). In 1986, Tom married Patricia O'Neal and they were blessed with two sons, Justin and Jordan.
Tom leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 15 years Patricia, (2) sons; Justin and Jordan of Tempe Arizona, his mother, Cecile Goolsby of Albany, New York, his sister Joyce Pounds and her husband John of Norwalk, Connecticut, (2) nieces and (4) nephews; Jasmine Pounds and Michael Ricks of Norwalk, Christine and Johnny Pounds of Albany, J. J. Hunt and Adam Vanek of Phoenix, (1) Aunt; Fannie Jordan of Athens, Georgia; sister-in-law Diane Vanek and her husband Mark of Phoenix; loyal childhood friend William Chesterfield and wife Sara of Phoenix; and godparents Edward and Juanita Johnson of Schenectady. He also leaves a host of relatives and friends that are too numerous to name.
Tom's first love was his family and friends. He was always the first to lend a hand; He could fix anything; and if there was a sport that involved a ball, he was a natural. Tom was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, friend and coach who will be missed by all whose lives he touched.
