April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month and National Child Abuse Prevention Month. This month MCVP is so excited to bring the EMPOWER WALK to the Monadnock Region.
Even before its official declaration, Sexual Assault Awarness Month (SAAM) was about both awareness and prevention of sexual assault, harassment, and abuse. Looking at the history of the movement to end sexual violence, it’s clear why: It’s impossible to prevent an issue no one knows about, and it’s difficult to make people aware of a problem without providing a solution. The two work in tandem, and they always have. For more information on SAAM history, please visit https://www.nsvrc.org/saam/history
April was designated National Child Abuse Prevention Month in 1983. Since then, organizations nationwide have recognized it as a time to raise awareness and inspire collective action, so that all children have the opportunity to live their best and healthy lives.
Please join myself and MCVP to building and creating a culture of respect and support for survivors.
