Dale Palmgren, 65, of Chandler, AZ, passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022. Born December 19, 1956, in Rockford, the son of Earl and Arlene (Bladstrom) Palmgren. A joyous laugh that could fill a room. We celebrate the life of Dale Palmgren and his journey to heaven. He is remembered by family and dear friends for a life well lived. Dale graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison with a PHD in Mechanical Engineering. Dale moved to Arizona where he started his extensive and distinguished career at Arizona State University in 1984 as a professor. During his 30 years at ASU, he held different academic and administrative positions including Chair, Department of Manufacturing and Aeronautical Engineering Technology and Associate Dean, College of Technology and Applied Sciences. His expertise was in materials and materials joining/welding, security engineering technology and robotics. He retired in 2014 as Emeritus Professor of Engineering, The Polytechnic School, Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering. A lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packer, Dale was also a passionate and avid fisherman, most in his element in a boat in Northern Wisconsin laughing and joking in accompaniment with a close friend or family. He had a passion for travel, enjoying ocean views and spending time with his friends. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Dale is survived by his niece, Teresa (Justin) Schroeder; nephews, Tom Palmgren; Carl Palmgren; and many dear friends, whom he considered family. He is preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Carl Palmgren.
