Daughter of Joan Marie (O’conner) Murphy (deceased) and James R. Murphy (living). Also survived by brother Michael Murphy Phd. (Janie) and long term boyfriend Jon Gardner.
Patricia had a strong drive to excel. She attended Guilford High School, Rockford, IL before moving to OH. After graduating from Gahanna Lincoln high school (1974); on her own, through hard work and perseverance she achieved multiple scholastic degrees.
B.S. Education from The Ohio State University - June 1978 and added French language accreditation June 1979.
Masters degree in Social work from The Ohio State University - June 1994.
Ohio teachers license and a licensed social worker
She earned a Critical Difference Scholarship, The Ohio State University, 1992.
Phi Kappa Phi honor society 1994.
She was a French teacher for a year then decided to become a social worker; retiring after a successful rewarding career as an elder care social worker. Smart and empathic, her older adult clients were treated with consummate professionalism.
Patricia loved her dogs Zora, Mazzy and boyfriend Jon
She loved the arts, country dancing, old westerns, travel - including going to Kenya on safari and Avignon, France with Bryn Mawr College.
She enjoyed hiking, camping, canoeing, caving, and of course shopping and spending time with her friends. She was always trying to learn and better herself.
