It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tommy Joe Tobolka, a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather. Tommy left this world peacefully on December 31, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Johnson City, TX.
Tommy was born on May 26, 1956, in Austin, TX, to his parents Jerome Tobolka and Mary Havelka Tobolka. He attended Anderson High School, where he graduated proudly as a member of the Class of 1974. Furthering his education, Tommy continued his studies at Concordia University in Austin as well as Southwest Texas State University. In his college years, Tommy excelled as a baseball pitcher which led to him pitching for semi-pro baseball.
Throughout his career, Tommy dedicated himself to the field of Commercial Construction. For the past 17 years, he was an esteemed member of Joeris General Contractors, where he contributed his knowledge and expertise diligently.
Tommy was a man who cherished his family above all else. He found true joy in spending quality time with his beloved grandchildren, creating lasting memories that will be cherished by generations to come. In his leisure, he enjoyed the tranquility of the ranch, finding solace amidst nature's splendor. Tommy was also a passionate member of the NRA, standing firmly by his beliefs and supporting the rights of responsible gun ownership.
Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Jerome, and his daughter, Rebecca. Left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 30 years, Patty Tobolka; his endearing mother, Mary; his loving children, Brent (Maegan), Amy, and Thomas; his brothers, Rick (Darleen) Tobolka and John (Sharon) Tobolka; and his adored grandchildren, Brackston, Brooks, Aubrey, and Braegan. Tommy will be dearly missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A funeral mass honoring Tommy’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 285 281 Loop, Johnson City, TX 78636.
