Ruth died at age 44 of a brain tumor at her home in Pacheco, CA. She attended West Penn School of Nursing with Charlene Walton. She attended Chapman College & received a bachelor's degree in nursing. She worked at John Muir Memorial Hospital in Walnut Creek, CA as Director of nursing, rehabilitation. In July 2011, Sue Strothman Johnson called Ruth's mother who lives in Pittsburgh. Rose was glad to talk about Ruth. Ruth had met a wonderful man who she spent several years with. A few weeks before her marriage to Philip "Scout" Bartlett, she received the grim prognosis. Dave died of an aortic embolism.
Tom Mannion '72, brother of our classmate Melinda Mannion O'Brien who died in 2006, told us about David passing away from an aortic embolism. Dave was #48 - a running back for the NA tigers and went on to play at several colleges in Kansas and Texas, where he got married, started a very successful bakery, raised three children, and retired. His nick name was “Atom” derived from the cartoon Atom Ant. David's oldest son Chris was named after another classmate - Chris Devlin.

Michael "Mike" David "Doc" Swick

Mike was most recently living in Erie, PA. Prior to that he was living on Conneaut Lake. Beloved husband of Jill (Conley) Swick, cherished father of Juliet Swick; dear brother of Jan (Sam) Caldwell. Mike graduated from La Roche College and then the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. He practiced dentistry for 36 years in his Allison Park and Conneaut Lake Dental Offices. During this time, he became an expert and innovator in the field of laser dentistry, developing the Swick “High Fluence” Technique. Susan died at UPMC-Hamot in Erie PA at age 63 after being stricken at her home on 2/23/17. Suzan was living in Oil City, PA. Suzan was married to Michael G. Shinder who also passed away on February 24, 2017. Suzan is survived by her father and siblings.

Kathy died of stomach cancer. Kathy’s mother Hilda related her fond memories of Kathy. “Everyone always said they loved Kathy – even when she was 3 years old!” Kathy became a nurse and interned at Allegheny General Hospital. She met a man at the beach who was in the service in Virginia. Within 6 months he was asking her parents for permission to marry Kathy. “It was a beautiful union!” They had two sons. After Kathy’s death, Jerry raised them. Unfortunately, he too recently passed away. Jerry was very supportive of Kathy during the tough year from diagnosis until Kathy died. Ironically, Kathy was a nurse at the Anderson Cancer Center, and then became a patient.

Michael Weinman

Michael died of a heart attack. Born in Pittsburgh, he was employed as an independent truck driver for 15 years. Catholic by faith, he was a member of the Lawrence County ABATE. He enjoyed his grandchildren and riding his motorcycle. He is survived by his children Michael S. (Ann) Weinman, Heather Beth (William) O'Brien, Jennifer Weinman and Katherine (Michael) Yova and five grandchildren.

Sandra Lee Wilson Schweers, d. September 6, 2022 at age 69. Sandra had been living in Seven Fields. She was a longtime resident of McCandless and a graduate of NA where she met her beloved husband of 38 years, Mark Schweers (’71 also), who preceded her in death (March 10, 2016). Sandra was also a graduate of Grove City College and Duquesne University Graduate School of Education. Sandra began her career as an elementary school teacher in 1976, but took an extended break from her career as an educator to raise their three children. Michael Zoth

Michael Zoth

Michael died in Erie PA at the age of 66. He briefly attended Catawba College from 1971 - 1972. Michael was an avid athlete and had a singular passion for tennis and playing doubles with his friends. He was also an accomplished guitar player, being trained at age 9 to play classic style. But by far, his greatest joy was his love and devotion for his children. Michael is survived by his beloved son Spencer Harrison Zoth of Rockville, Md. and beloved daughter Rickie Anne Reed of Erie, Pa., his sister Deborah H. Newcomer of Gotha, Fla., and former wife Jennifer L. Reed of Erie Pa.
