Norma's Fight for Life
Our sister, friend, mother, co-worker, aunt, grandmother, and wife Norma Vara needs help for a medical emergency that has flipped everyone's world upside down. On October 6th, Norma was rushed to the emergency room at Providence east via ambulance where she was diagnosed with a perforated intestine. She underwent a life-saving surgery that same evening and has been in "very critical condition" and under sedation ever since. Norma has undergone a total of four surgeries, two of which have been separate attempts to seal the torn intestine, and during one of the surgeries a massive stone was removed that was blocking passage through the small intestine. The primary problem remains a perforated intestine as two attempts to seal the tear have been unsuccessful and her life remains in peril. After the fourth surgery, the family received devastating news that there is nothing else that can be done in El Paso due to local medical shortcomings. The family was advised that Norma needs a Hepatobiliary Specialist and the closest one is in Phoenix, Arizona.
The family is pulling all resources together and we are hoping our friends and relatives will help us raise money for any travel expenses that her husband, Robert, may incur for a medical evacuation to Phoenix. When this ordeal is over, and if there is any money left, it will be applied towards any outstanding medical expenses.
