Laura Lee Albi was born a free spirit, from early on she had a love of people and animals. After her father cut the yard, they would load up the grass clipping take them to Dahlia and Iliff to feed the horses The owners would come out and put her on a horse, she would often times walk up to the corral and on her fathers way home from work he would pick her up. When Laura was in the 3rd grade our parents became guardians to two of our cousins. At Laura’s memorial service our Uncle said that his son was taught how to read by Laura and became who he was because of her, she touched many by her kindness. Laura had life long friends that were like her sisters, Linda, Lucy, Bonnie, Karen, they would play for hours, share everything and would all walk to Bradley together, for 6 years. When Hamilton opened the bus ride with all of them on the bus was full of laughter. After high school paths split off but the friendships picked up where they left off the last time they were together, the bonds lasted 33 years. Laura in the 10th grade decided that she wanted to spend time in the mountains, a love that came from her Mom, Dad and her brother John. During the summer months she had a job in Eldora at a General Store, the owner had a room in the back where she lived and she soon became friends with the town. She would help open the store up in the summer, and worked until it closed after Labor Day. Laura’s grandfather Bill Loeffler was the manager of the Western Wear department at the Denver Dry Goods Company, on weekends she would go to work with him and would spend hours on the saddles on display in the department, she met Casey Tibbs, Dean Oliver and Jim Shoulders. She and her brother John would go to each year to the stock show, along with their Grandfather Loeffler, after he died Laura and John continued the tradition. Laura while living in Evergreen was very active in the Evergreen Rodeo Association on the organizational aspect, and as the Secretary of the Evergreen Rodeo Association for a number of years. She loved to be part of the parade and the rodeo. She was part time bartender at the Tack Room, she perfected her pool playing here, and would shoot a game with Willie Nelson when he would come to his home in Evergreen. Laura was also a gifted Artist, she loved the medium of pencil and ink and pencil and watercolor. She drew a Native American Indian in Ink and this was one of her most requested drawing. She and her Mom would take art classed together in Calligraphy, and painting at the Denver Art Institute. Laura became a Construction Site Secretary, for over 20 years, this was her calling she would make sure all of the crews and supplies were in place so that the projects could keep on track. She made friends with everyone and was well respected from the framers to the Presidents of the companies. Laura was a kind, generous, and loving friend.
