Brian Nicholson, 59, passed away February 23, 2022, after battling cancer for a year. He is survived by his mother, Colleen Nicholson, and his three siblings and their families: Bruce (Brunswick, Maine), Sean (Ithaca, New York), and Shelly (Elmhurst, Illinois). His Father, Stan Nicholson died September 2021. Brian also leaves behind three children: Aubry (Joseph) , Aaron (Caroline), Nick (Nixon) and three grandchildren: Oliver (9) Yvie (5) and Hardwood (two months), all of Missoula.

Brian was born at Fort Meade, Maryland in 1963 and lived overseas for eight of his first 11 years in Lagos, Nigeria, Bogota, Columbia and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His Family returned to the States and he graduated from Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda, Maryland in 1981. In 1985 he graduated from Reed College in Portland, Oregon with with a BA in Economics. Later that year he married Anne Mattocks in Rockville, Maryland and they both served as Peace Corps Volunteers in Tunisia where they learned Arabic and taught bee keeping to rural farmers.

After the Peace Corps, Brian and Anne Returned to Rockville, Maryland where he started a house painting business.

During his free time, he loved relaxing at the beach and hiking in the Mountains. He Traveled west to Placid Lake every summer and shared his love for the outdoors with his family and friends. A Celebration of life will take place this summer.

His family would like to thank Partners in Home Care Hospice for their care and help during Brian's last months.
