Walk a Mile in Their Shoes
On May 12, 2018, join your neighors at Barren County Board of Education for our 1st annual fundraiser to stop hunger in our community by supporting #BCReadsandFeeds. This program is designed to eliminate hunger in the summer months when food can be scarce since children are not in school getting the benefits of a free breakfast and lunch. In addition to having open cafeterias throughout Barren County, a big red bus travels to over 10 different locations to deliver breakfast, lunch, and free books for children of all ages.
Sponsored through the National Summer Feeding Program, the food is free...But, the bus, the books, & the sports/recreation equipment given to children at no charge are part of a larger community effort. So, we need your support to help stop hunger and provide value experiences through reading and movement.

Join us at Barren County Board of Education on May 12 at 7:30, with the walk beginning at 8am. Though optional, participants are encouraged not eat dinner on the night before the event and breakfast on the day of the event to simulate the hunger felt by so many. Then, participants will be asked to walk a mile to First Christian Church, where a free breakfast will be provided to all participants. Guests can enjoy the "Hunger Game Stations" located around the property to tour the #BCReadsandFeeds bus, read books, sample foods, play some movement games, and enjoy fun activities.
