In 2015, a small group of 3 families came together to found the Texas Bladder Exstrophy Group. We are an online support group open to families in the Texas/Oklahoma area that are affected by Bladder Exstrophy. In the past two years, we have grown to a group of over 60 members that feel the need to connect locally and know that they are not alone on this roller coaster journey.
Because we are a local group, we are able to really focus on the need of connection. We host Mom's Night Out quarterly, as well as family events throughout the year. We have also joined with Cook Children's Urology to promote family events through the hospital!. Another thing we have been blessed to be able to do is foster frienships in our children and ourselves that are shaping up to be some of the most important relationship in our lives. We have been so fortunate to watch our kids play together, laugh, be silly, compare mitrofanoff's, talk about shared doctor's, and come to the realization that they will always have someone to talk to!
Last year, at our 1st Annual BE Extraordinary 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament, our kids raised over $4,000 to help the Association for the Bladder Exstrophy Community (A-Be-C) . We are excited to be able to bring our group together to do it again! As parents, we truly believe in the importance of showing our children that they can be amazing and they can accomplish amazing things. Our group is hosting the 2nd Annual BE Extraordinary 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament on March 24; it is an honor and such a pleasure to be able to help in an area that has so affected each of our families, and we are humbled and thankful for your sponsorship for this exciting event.
