Darren Edward Gay, 46, passed away July 2, 2013, in Shawnee, Kan. He was a graduate of Bishop Ward High School and also graduated from Kansas University where he played football. Darren was a teacher. He enjoyed being an umpire and referee. He was a member of many organizations including the Eagles, Elk and Moose Lodges. Darren loved life, his family and KU. Darren is survived by his father, Robert M. Gay, (wife Kelly), Mayetta, Kan., his mother, Jacquelyn Hallier, Kansas City, Kan., son, Grant Carl, and five brothers, Robert Gay (wife Deborah), Christopher Gay (wife Ann), Kyle Gay ( wife Melissa), Jacob Gay (wife Joni) and Damian Brackenbury.
