Yolanda Lopez Chamberlin, 57, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away June 3, 2024, surrounded by her loving family and closest friends.

Yolanda was born March 21, 1967, the seventh child and youngest daughter of Carlos and Guadalupe (Coronado) Lopez, in Kansas City, Missouri, and was raised in Kansas City, Kansas. She attended Bishop Ward High School and the University of Kansas earning two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and Human Resources. She furthered her academic achievements by earning a Master’s degree in Higher Education and Administration & Leadership from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Yolanda enjoyed professional employment as a college recruiter, corporate trainer, and a real estate property consultant. She went on to start her own consulting, interpreting, and translation practice, specializing in Spanish language solutions. She had a passion for tutoring children and adults in Spanish studies, and teaching English as a Second Language classes. Throughout her career, Yolanda worked with a positive attitude, high energy, and professionalism.

Yolanda had an infectious smile and adventurous spirit. She loved to travel and test her athletic limits. She completed numerous marathons around the country, rode in MS 150 bike fundraisers, and even sky dived. She enjoyed cheering on her Jayhawks as well as her many nieces and nephews as she watched them in various activities. Yolanda had a deep and unwavering faith that carried her throughout her life, before and throughout her long, brave, and private battle with cancer. She loved bible studies, reading and gifting devotional books, being a eucharistic minister, teaching catechesis, and performing community service.  

Yolanda loved people and was a loyal friend. She was most happy when she was listening and dancing to music, charming you with her many stories, shopping, and eating out at her favorite restaurants. Her external beauty was matched by her beautiful soul and vibrant personality. She was kind, generous, and a strong light and to all who met her.

Yolanda was preceded in death by her father, Carlos R. Lopez. She is survived by her mother, Guadalupe Lopez, her siblings, Carlos Jr. (Irene), Lorenzo (Melissa), Lupe Clouse (Greg), Jorge, Josephine Sitek, Rosie Shaw(John), Robert (Janine), and Louis, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones.
