Wayne P. Johnson, 72, of Hooksett, NH, died August 16, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a period of declining health.
Born in Nashua, NH, on February 7, 1946, he was the son of Fred and Alice (Plante) Johnson. He resided in the Queen City most of his life. Later, he lived in Hampton Beach for several years before moving to Hooksett in 2016.
Wayne graduated from Linwood High School, Lincoln, NH. He earned a bachelor's degree from College of the Holy Cross where he was a member of the Phi Delta Kappa fraternity. He earned a master's degree in education from Antioch College.
A dedicated and respected teacher, Wayne's career spanned more than three decades. Until his retirement, he was a history teacher at Manchester High School West.
For many years, he volunteered his time, talents, and spirit to coaching youth girls cheerleading as well as serving as past president of North Soccer League.
Wayne enjoyed traveling. He was an avid outdoorsman and fly fisherman.
Known for his sharp wit, Wayne reveled in bringing a laugh to those around him. His kind, devoted, and caring disposition served as an example to many. Wayne has left a treasured legacy to all who knew and loved him.
Family members include his wife of forty-eight years, Mary (Cross) Johnson of Hooksett; three daughters, Maura Labrie of Manchester, Laura McBrien and her husband, Keith, of Manchester, and Christine Monahan and her husband, Dan, of TN; five grandchildren; a brother, Stephen Johnson of Hampton; three sisters, Kathleen Rothammer of TN, Gail McCarthy of Derry, and Catherine Olmstead, of Manchester; many nieces and nephews; and dear friends.
