1943-10-13 2024-05-19
Robert P. Kerrigan, 80, of Manchester, NH, died May 19, 2024 of complications due to Alzheimer’s. He was a devoted husband of 53 years, “Dad” to five, “Poppy” to seven, and “Coach” to hundreds.

Born in Manchester on October 13, 1943, Bob was the son of Paul Kerrigan and Dorothy K. (Howe) Cullen, and stepson of Edward H. Cullen. He graduated from Bishop Bradley High School in 1961 and University of New Hampshire in 1967 - finishing a four year degree in what he called “the best six years of his life”. He then began his 35 year career as a Physical Education teacher at West High School, where he met his future wife, Marea.

Known for his love of family, baseball, and a cold Bud Light, Bob played and coached sports throughout his life and all over New Hampshire. He was the head coach for 26 seasons of West High baseball, winning over 300 games and two state championships. He was inducted into the Manchester Catholic High School Hall of Fame in 1995 and the Queen City Athletic Hall of Fame in 1996.

After retiring Bob enjoyed early morning golf at Intervale Country Club, breakfast with friends, and any time spent at “The Raph”. He worked as a bailiff in Manchester and Goffstown and regularly read Sports Illustrated from cover to cover. He and Marea enjoyed traveling together and in every destination - from Ireland to Nashville, Aruba to Hampton Beach - Bob would come across someone he knew. He was a long time parishioner of St. Raphael Parish.

He is predeceased by his sister, Christine McMillan, and grandson Griffin Taylor.

He is survived by his wife Marea Kerrigan; children Ryan and Lizzie Kerrigan of Portland Oregon, Kelly Kerrigan Jacobus and Kevin Jacobus of Boston, Chelsea Taylor of Merrimack, Dorian and Ron Walters of Merrimack, and Molly Kerrigan and Adam Moldawer of Tewksbury, MA; grandchildren Sebastian, Adric and Boden Walters, Anona Kerrigan, Bailey Taylor, and Nora Moldawer; siblings Colleen and Gary Barrett, Kathleen Cullen and Mary Young, and Patricia and Peter Pappas; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
