This year will be the first year for the Camp Twin Lakes Summer 5k! On Tuesday, August 2nd, Camp Twin Lakes staff members will participate in a 5k along Keencheefoonee Road. All donations will help send a kid to camp, helping Camp Twin Lakes provide life-changing experiences for our campers.
Camp Twin Lakes provides powerful, therapeutic, and transformative camps to thousands of Georgia's children with serious illnesses, disabilities, and life challenges where they can experience the joys of childhood and grow in both their confidence and capabilities. Children with special healthcare needs and life challenges can participate in adaptive camp activities, such as zip lines, rock walls, and horseback riding, as well as nature programming, which includes interactive nature exploration trails, a wheelchair-accessible green treehouse, stargazing programs, and the 120-acre farm. Through learning perseverance, resilience, and a sense of community, campers leave transformed and capable of extraordinary things while they gain confidence and independence.
Camp Twin Lakes provides week-long summer camps and year-round weekend retreats at two fully-accessible and medically-supportive campsites, with a third one on the way. Camp Twin Lakes collaborates with more than 60 nonprofit organizations, each serving a different population, to create customized programs that teach campers to overcome obstacles and grow in their confidence and capabilities. Annually, Camp Twin Lakes serves nearly 10,000 campers, leverages support from 3,700 volunteers, and subsidizes 70% of the direct camp costs ($550) for every camper served.
