Mark Humiston

1981-08-29 2024-10-21

Mark Michael Humiston, 43, beloved husband, father, son, and brother, went to be with the Lord on October 21, 2024. Mark was a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ who placed God and his family before all else. He was a servant-leader of his family and a mentor at his home church, Taylor Creek. Mark also had a successful career as a prominent electrical engineer and lead designer at Hargis Engineering in Seattle, during which he attained Professional Engineering licensure. Yet Mark loved being with his family most of all, attending to them as a keen and gentle shepherd and leading them in family worship. He was also passionate about being outdoors in God’s creation—especially hiking and camping. He imparted his love of nature to his children through family adventures in rock climbing, fishing, and mountain biking. He also loved singing and making music, woodwork and building, and reading to his children. Mark was born on August 29, 1981 in Marion, Ohio, and later moved with his family to North Texas in 1990. As a teenager at Colleyville Heritage High School, Mark distinguished himself both in the local chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and as a band captain and gifted musician playing trombone in the CHHS Panther Band. He also served his community as an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. After obtaining his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, he moved to the Seattle area where he met his wife, Sarah. Mark and Sarah were married on May 12, 2007. A favorite scripture Mark sought to model his spiritual walk after was 2 Timothy 1:7: “For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power, love, and a sound mind.” Mark is survived by his son Andrew; daughter Brielle; parents Mark Humiston Sr. and Beverly Humiston; brother Scott Humiston and sister-in-law Erin Humiston and their children; sister Emily Humiston Sanchez and brother-in-law Jose Sanchez and their children; mother-in-law Kathryn Ogden; and brother-in-law Joseph Ogden.
