For thirteen years I was lucky to be part of the ground-breaking team helping to protect the quality of New York City's upstate water supply. I ended my (working) career with the NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation as one of the leads with its Ocean and Great Lakes Program. In retirement, I have become a professional genealogist and am living part-time in Ireland with my wife of 32 years.

Peter Barvoets

Occupation: Librarian, SUNY Cobleskill - Retired
Comment: Went to Rochester Instatute of Technology.Worked in printing/publishing business through 1991. Decided to change my direction and was unemployed in '92. Kept busy that year creating and publishing a local music zine called 'Archetype' which I distributed locally for free. Then grad school at SUNY Albany in '93 for my masters degree in library science. Worked two half time jobs as reference librarian at SUNY SCCC and the College of Saint Rose. Hired full time by SUNY Cobleskill library in '04 as systems/serials librarian and was liaison to the Agriculture and Fisheries departments. I was asked to be interim director for my last five years after our library Dean left. Running the library during the pandemic was quite an experience. We remained open for the duration. Retired two years ago.

Besides work, through the years I became part of the local music scene through my interest in photography and love of music. Many interesting times. I do a bit of birding, life list is just over 150 birds. Could do better there. Immersed myself in amateur astronomy over the years observing and photographing stellar events. Lately I have been noodling around with music using synths, oscillators, and such. Wish everyone the best.
