On August 5, 2021, Cheryl L. Koehnke received her wings and went to fly with the angels. She was 68 years old. She was born on April 6, 1953, in Peoria the daughter of Carter & Donna (Brown) Clayton. Cheryl was a loving mother, sister, and friend. She loved all animals from the very big to the very small. Right now, she is on her horse in heaven riding with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Koehnke. Cheryl is survived by her brothers, Carter William Clayton III and Ernie Clayton; sons, Russell Tazelaar (Amber) Dennis Tazelaar (Deborah); stepsons, Adam, JJ, and Nathan Koehnke; grandsons, Ricky and Garrett Tazelaar and granddaughters, Emma and Olivia Steinke; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A celebration of life ceremony will be held at Laird Funeral Home in Elgin, IL, 12-4 PM on Sunday, August 22, 2021, with a prayer service at 3:00 PM.
