Fred Luft

November 11, 1953 – April 24, 2025

Fred Luft of Hoffman Estates passed away peacefully after a long battle with heart disease.

He was a husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, known for his warmth, curiosity, and deep appreciation for history and heritage.

As a child, Fred attended St. Hubert’s Catholic School and later graduated from Conant High School in 1971. After graduation, he began a long and dedicated career in the construction industry, working at Brand Insulation as a superintendent and project manager until his retirement in 2013.

Fred had a lifelong love of aviation and was a proud member of the local historical society. He especially enjoyed researching his family tree, often beaming when he uncovered new stories about his ancestors. His passion for history and family made him a natural storyteller.

He is survived by his wife, Kay; son, Jeffery; brothers, Mike Luft and Jim Luft (Denise); niece, Kendra Hamann (Joe) and their children Joseph, Abigail, and Penelope; nephew, Kyle Luft (Rita) and their son Nathan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Senior and Adaline Luft.

Fred will be remembered for the quiet joy he found in the past, in flight, and in the connections he made with those around him.

At this time, the family has decided not to hold a service.
