Steve and I went to Fairview elementary school together, Mead Jr High, and then Conant. He and I were always the tallest in the class and sat next to each other because our desks were higher than the others. Steve had an incredible sense of humor, and was a little bit of a troublemaker. But we were good friends. I think about him often and wonder what potential he would’ve had if his life wasn’t cut short too soon.
