OLLIE LAKE ARRINGTON----CANADIAN, TX. Funeral services for Ollie Lake Arrington, 96, were held on Friday at 10:30 at the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Bradley Walker, pastor, and the Rt. Rev. Sam B. Hulsey, former Bishop of the Diocese of Northwest Texas of the Episcopal Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in the Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Stickley-Hill Funeral Home.
Mrs. Arrington [96 years old] died October 27, 1997 at her home. She was born in Fort Worth on March 4, 1901, the oldest daughter of Mary Daggett and William Fletcher Lake, pioneer families of Tarrant County. She graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a bachelor's degree in English. She was a member of Alpha Phi social fraternity and taught school in the Fort Worth School system for two years.
She married French Arrington on September 4, 1928 in Fort Worth. They moved to the Rocking Chair Ranch on the headwaters of the Washita River in southwestern Hemphill County, where she resided for 43 years. Mr. Arrington died in 1973.
Mrs. Arrington had been a resident of Canadian for the past 26 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Canadian and of the Presbyterian Women and had served her church as a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the WTCU Library Board, had served her church as a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the WCTU Library Board, had served on United Way campaigns, Red Cross Fund raising functions, and Meals on Wheels. She was a member of the Anonymous Bridge Club, Merry Bidders Bridge Club and the Book Review Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Ann Arrington Webb of Canadian and Mesa, Arizona; two sons, George W. Arrington of Canadian and William L. Arrington of Pampa; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
