Biography/Comment (What have you been doing for the last 50 years?): | June after graduation I went in the US Army Military Service for three yrs. with two and half yrs. spent in Germany inservice of the Cold War. After I got out of the service I was a union laborer construction worker for five+yrs. building power plants. In 1983 while attending college at Western Kentucky University I enlisted in the Kentucky Army National Guard where I spent seven+yrs. My unit was one of the first to go to the Gulf War. I was fortunate to not have to go based on my inactive duty status. Had that action lasted longer than it did I would have been reactivated and had to go to the war. I'm grateful I didn't have to go. I attended Western Kentucky University (WKU) from 1983-1988 then 1991-1995. I graduated with BFA in Fine Art and two areas of concentration one in drawing and one in painting with a minor in art history. I became a single parent to a fabulous daughter in 1985. She was and is the light of my life now along with twin grand babies a boy and a girl. I worked as an On-Set graphic artist in Nashville TN 1988 to 1991 between the break in college. I was able to work with celebrities and country music stars. After graduating university I worked a variety of jobs. Freelance painter freelance interior designer designer for Ethan Allen, specialty decorative and faux finish painting along with murals and commission art pieces. I worked as well in restaurants in all aspects from front of the house to the back of the house in including as a sous chef then catering supervisor and catering director. I am now retired however I still paint. I have five commissions awaiting my attention. |

Biography/Comment (What have you been doing for the last 50 years?): | I started nursing school 4 days after graduating from High School. Upon graduation I got my first job at the U of U Medical center working in the OB department. A mutual friend set me up on a blind date and it worked! We have been married 48 years this September. I continued working at the U until my husband graduated going through the U of U ROTC . Our first child was born just before graduation. Our first Military assignment took us to Georgia. We asked for an overseas assignment and went to Germany for 3 years where we had baby #2. We went back to Georgia, followed by Mississippi and onto Arizona. We had baby #3 and decided to end our Military time. Our 1st Civilian job was with Sprint which took us to Houston TX followed by Olathe Kansas where we had baby #4. We lived there for 9 years. We were recruited by US West in Denver and decided to make the move. We lived south of Denver in Highlands Ranch CO for 14 years. We decided at the ripe old age of 55 to retire and serve a mission. We sold our house and cars and left for the Philippines for 18 months. Since we had no where to come home to we decided to serve another mission stateside so we could figure out where to live. We served in Washington DC. It was a super hard decision to choose where to live for hopefully the rest of our lives because our 4 children lived in 4 different states. We finally decided to return to Utah which was a hard decision since we left in 1978. We still had most of our extended family and one of our children in Utah. After searching for months for the right home and location we ended up building a house in Fruit Heights. We have lived here since 2013 but have left to serve again 3 times, Utica New York mission, Preston England mission and a 3 month mini mission to be hosts for the Washington DC temple open house. We think we have retired from serving Missions. We enjoy traveling, reading, visiting our children, pickle ball, and any activity that keeps us moving! I look forward to seeing many of you! |
