Mark K. Green, a 24 year old Kaysville man was killed Thursday morning when the bracket arm of a frontend loader crushed him. Mark was reportedly changing an oil filter on the machine's engine when the accident occurred, according to Alan Manning, Fruit Heights city manager.
According to the investigation, James Patterson of Clinton, driver of the loader, accidently hit the lever which activated the machine's arm. The bracket arm slammed down, hitting Mr. Green at the waist. He was crushed into a two-inch space between the arm and the engine. The men were servicing the machine which was being used at the East Oak Subdivision construction site. The accident happened approximately at 9:15 a.m.
Mr. Green was born Dec 10, 1954, in Ogden, a son of Woodrow E. and Jennie K. Knowlolow Green. He was a member of the LDS Church. On Dec 30, 1978, he was married to Susan Barkdull in Elko, Nev. He graduated from Davis High School in 1973. He was a member of Future Farmers of America and had won many honors showing steers. He was an expert in grooming cattle.
Surviving are his widow of Kaysville; one stepdaughter, Christy, also of Kaysville; his father of Layton and his mother of Kaysville; two brothers and one sister, Woodrow D. Green, California; Scott H. Green, East Layton; Mrs. Wayne (Jania) Walker, Granger, Utah.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Layton Third Ward Chapel. Dedication of the grave was given by Scott Green. Pallbearers were Rick Adams, Bret Deru, John Blankman Sr., Gordon Richins, Brent Love and John Blankman. Interment was in the Kaysville-Layton Memorial Park. The funeral arrangements were under the direction of Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary.
