I knew Steve since we were at Loma Vista together, but when his family returned from Wash. D.C. around 1972, they moved across the street from me. That started a special and very adventurist relationship. We both loved backpacking, and did many trips in the sierras. We tried to figure out life on those trips, but mostly we ended up missing partying and real food! My favorite memories at home are of weekend nights of “P&B” (pizza and beer) with Steve, Kevin Childress, and Pete Anderson held at whoever’s house had no parents around! I will always love Steve as one of my dearest friends and think of him most nights when I look at the stars including silly constellations we made up on our adventures together. - Mike Campbell
