Gilmer Ledbetter III

San Antonio, Texas - Gilmer Leonard "Coach" Ledbetter III peacefully passed from this life on January 27, 2022, at the age of 74 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born to the late Gilmer Leonard Ledbetter, Jr. and Carmel Lion Ledbetter on October 13, 1947, in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Coach Ledbetter attended Southwest Texas State College (now Texas State University) where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and Coaching degree with a Minor in Science Education. For more than thirty years, he taught and coached in schools all across the Rio Grande Valley. His strong work ethic and pursuit of performance to all those around him influenced the lives of many people in the athletic community. Former students, coaches, and fellow professional educators continued to reach out to "Coach" after his retirement.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his wife and grandchildren and traveling to watch his grandchildren participate in sporting events and stock shows. He also loved riding motorcycles with his wife out on the open road.

Coach Ledbetter is preceded in death by his parents, Gilmer L. Ledbetter, Jr. and Carmel L. Ledbetter.

He is survived by his loving wife, Connie Bryant Ledbetter; daughters, Tamara A. Catlett (Kevin) and Jennifer B. Boeck (Walker); grandchildren, Riley J. Catlett, Blake Boeck (Kasandra Brumfield, fiancé), and Bethany Boeck; brother, Bobby Ledbetter (Anita); niece, Alison (Ryan) Salinas and their children, Emma and Ellie; nephews, Jacob Ledbetter and Joshua Ledbetter; and, his beloved dog, Sweetie.

The Ledbetter family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A chapel service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Services for Coach Ledbetter will conclude at the close of the service.

Honorary pallbearers are Jacob Ledbetter, Joshua Ledbetter, Kevin Catlett, Riley Catlett, Blake Boeck, and Walker Boeck.
