Rick Adels

Oct. 4, 1954-April 7, 2008 Age: 53 Residence: Greeley Tribute: Rick A. Adels was born in Kimball, Neb., to Vernon and Shirley (Dickerson) Adels. He moved to Loveland with his parents when he was 2. He went through school in Loveland and graduated from Loveland High School in 1972. He attended Colorado State University and studied organ under Bob Cavarra and voice with Edwin Anderson. He became organist at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loveland at the age of 12. During his career, Mr. Adels was organist and choir director at Trinity Lutheran Church and United Methodist Church in Loveland and First United Methodist Church and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Greeley. At the time of his death, he was choirmaster at Trinity Episcopal Church in Greeley. In 1982, Mr. Adels and his business partner, Ed Sunderlin, established Northern Colorado Crematory in Greeley and about eight years ago, expanded to add Best Friends Pet Crematory. In his career, Mr. Adels also entertained at the Bronco Inn in Northglenn, Nicky’s and Charlies Cousin in Fort Collins, the Plains Hotel in Cheyenne and the Ramkota Inn in Greeley. He played and sang for many, many weddings and funerals in the area. Mr. Adels died Monday in Northglenn. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. Survivors: His parents and aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded in death by: His grandparents and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorial services: Noon Wednesday at Trinity Episcopal Church, 3800 20th St., Greeley, and 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3333 N. Duffield Ave., Loveland. Rick was one of the most talented men I have known. His keyboard skills were incredible! I enjoyed being in choir with him. The best part was singing in the barbershop quartet our senior year in high school performing the music man. Ice cream….!
