Margey Knievel

Margey Knievel

“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.” Longtime Wiggins resident, Margey Knievel, 57, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011. She was born February 11, 1954 and grew up in Loveland where she graduated from high school in 1972. Margey married the love of her life, Dave, in 1974 and together they later moved to Wiggins where they ran a farm/ranch operation and raised their two children, Melissa (30) and Robbie (27). She was an active member of the Wiggins Community Church. Margey’s life was all about family, friends, the farm, and her faith. Words can’t begin to describe her “larger than life” personality, sense of humor, and contagious laugh. Margey had an energy and light that touched everyone she knew or met. More than that, she was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and sister who was always a rock of support or a shoulder to cry on. Margey had a huge heart for animals…especially baby farm animals, puppies, and kitties. She also had a special love for horses that stemmed from her teen years of being a Larimer County Sweetheart Rider, then later to her business, raising champion paint horses. She loved life on the farm through good times and bad. Some of her favorite things to do were to take drives with Dave or go out to the pasture behind their home and watch the calves play and the cows graze. She called it her “therapy”. Margey loved the solitude of being on green grass and in wide open spaces. For that reason, Margey’s family has chosen to have her service on the family farm at 10:00 AM on Sunday, June 19, 2011. She is survived by her husband, Dave, and children, Robbie and Melissa, and son-in-law Jason. She has 3 siblings, a sister, Leigh Ann Gerk of Greeley and two brothers, James Frank of Loveland and Scott Frank of Windsor. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer & Bernice Frank, formerly of Loveland. Friends who wish may send memorial contributions to the Margey Knievel Memorial Fund, c/o Heer & Dahl Mortuary, 225 E. Platte Ave., Fort Morgan, CO. 80701.
