Kathy Kelly

Kathy Joe Guinn Kelly of Loveland passed away at home on Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at the age of 59. She was born to Roland Joseph Guinn and Betty Jensen Guinn, January 19, 1954 in El Paso, Texas. She graduated from Loveland High School in 1972. Kathy graduated from Nursing School from the University of Northern Colorado in 1977. She spent many years nursing in ICU, Critical Care Units and other nursing fields before becoming a nursing instructor. She was a teacher at IBMC and was passionate about working with her students and making a difference in their lives. She is a current finalist nominated for "Faculty of The Year" award through Colorado Association of Career Colleges and Schools. Kathy was devoted and loved being a mother to her two sons, Charlie and Scoti. She enjoyed watching their talents in acting and singing. Putting her sons first and helping others is what made her happy. Some of Kathy's favorite things were spending time with her sons, and family, making stained glass (to give to family and friends), listening to Bob Dylan, shooting hand guns, reading, fishing, riding horses, and her dogs. Kathy is survived by her sons Charlie and Scoti Kelly; mother Betty Guinn; brother Mike Guinn; sister Joni Guinn Suther and husband Mike, brother Scott Guinn and his wife Debbie; and lots of nieces and nephews who loved her very much and will deeply miss her. She was preceded in death by her father Roland Joseph Guinn. Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 19th 2013, 1:00 P.M. at Viegut Funeral Home. A Private viewing will be held. On behalf of Kathy's love for all animals, donations may be made to the Larimer Humane Society in care of Viegut Funeral Home. Go to www.viegutfuneralhome.com for condolences.

Kathy lived up the street from me and we were friends. I saw her at the 10-year reunion, but never after that. Shortly before she passed away, however, she found that my brother was the neighbor of her best friend and expressed an interest in getting reacquainted with me after so many years. Sadly, however, that was not to be as she unexpectedly left this world before we could reconnect.
