Services Set For Cynthia Dickey, 20, Slain in Germany
Recitation of rosary will be held Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Draucker Funeral Chapel for Cynthia Vasa Dickey, 20, who was slain while serving on guard duty at
a woman’s barracks at Ft. Pioneer in Germany on April 20. Mass of the Christian Burial
will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church with Father Cletus Semper celebrant. Burial with full military honors will follow at the Ogallala Cemetery.
Mrs. Dickey born Cynthia Ann Vasa on Sept 11, 1954, in Ogallala. She attended
elementary school through the tenth grade at Ogallala. During her sophomore year she moved with her parents to Loveland, Colo., where she graduated from high school. She
attended the Bermel Beauty School in Ft. Collins and after her graduation from there was a beautician for one year before joining the US Army in April of 1974.
On March 8, 1975, she was married to Carl Dickey in Rock Springs, Wyo. Both held the rank of Sp4 in the military.
She is survived by: her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Vasa of Rock Springs, one sister, Christine of the home; three brothers, Robert, Jr., Richard and Randall all at home; and her grandparents, Mrs. Marie Vasa of Sutherland, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Moore of Ogallala.
A memorial has been established in her name. Draucker Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
State Soldier held in Germany- Associated Press

A Minnesotan has been charged with the murder of an American woman soldier found stabbed to death nine days ago at a U.S. Army base in nearby Hanau, 3rd Support Command headquarters said Tuesday.
The command said Spec. 5 Richard J. Hoppe, 26, of Fairmont, a laboratory specialist at the 209th General Dispensary in Hanau, was being held in the connection with the murder of Spec. 4 Cynthia A. Dickey, 20, a clerk with the 85th Maintenance Battalion.
Miss Dickey was assigned as the charge of quarters at a building housing female personnel at the time her body was discovered near her duty post on April 20.
