Melody passed away peacefully at her Red Feather Lakes, Colorado home on Saturday, June 15th, 2024 with her loving husband, Rick, by her side. She was 70 years young.
Melody was a very compassionate and caring person who always put others before herself. She loved her husband, her boys, her grandchildren, and her dogs. She will be dearly missed.
Melody Laine Hutton was born in Loveland, Colorado on May 1st, 1954. Melody was an only child raised by her mother, Lillian. She completed nursing school and had a long and rewarding career as an LPN in Senior Care. She loved her job and she loved taking care of her residents.
On October 17, 1975, she married Freddy Ray Lorimor and they remained happily so until the time of his passing in 2002. Melody & Fred welcomed two sons, Billy and Zeb. Melody was a caring mother who loved her children dearly. She was always there for her boys and supported them in all that they did.
Melody was blessed to find love a second time in this life and married Richard Brubaker on December 18, 2004. Mel & Rick enjoyed the time they spent together in the mountains and many camping trips. She loved the mountains. They loved music and attended a great many live concerts together. They were happy together and content in their mountain life. Rick is heartbroken by the loss of his beloved Melody.
Melody was a dear friend to many. She was kind and always accepting of others. When it came to her job, she was a stickler and was always precise in her work. She loved to read. She enjoyed cross-stitching and was a big fan of Disney movies – especially Cinderella. She loved the Colorado outdoors and she really loved to go to concerts. But more than anything, Melody loved to spoil her grandkids. She loved her family, and they loved her so. Her gentle and loving spirit will not soon be forgotten.
Missing Melody today are her husband of nearly 20 years, Richard “Rick” Brubaker, her sons, William “Billy” Lorimor and his wife, Susan, and Zebulah “Zeb” Lorimor; her step-daughter, Joy Brubaker Harris; her grandchildren, Zachary Lorimor, Jeremy Lorimor, Delaney Lorimor, Cy Lorimor, Lailah Harris, Nikolas Harris, and Israel Wright; and her great-granddaughter, Dijana Harris. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Judy Brubaker (Nancy Carpenter), Sandra Kramer, and Cheryl Flageolle (Dave); as well nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
She is welcomed on the other side by her late husband, Fred Lorimor, her mother, Lillian Wagner, and by her dogs, Bear and Gizmo.
Services for Melody were held at Resthaven Funeral Home & Memory Gardens in Fort Collins, Colorado on Monday, June 24th, 2024. Her family greatly appreciates all those who were able to attend, those who sent flowers and shared memories, or otherwise demonstrated their love for Melody.
