Jo Ann Walker
1954-08-28 2025-02-28
Jo Ann Walker, 70, of Loveland, Colorado passed peacefully into the hands of God on Friday, February 28, 2025. She joins her beloved husband, Don, in life eternal.
Jo was born in Nebraska City, Nebraska on August 28, 1954 to Claude “Bill” and Wanda Stuart. The Stuart’s moved to Loveland in 1958 after they fell in love with the mountains and lakes during camping trips (that Jo hated). Jo grew up in Loveland with her older sister Judy and older brother John. Jo was the “spoiled” child and received a horse named Lucky after John moved out of the house. Jo and Lucky had many adventures together during her high school years. Following graduation from Loveland High School in 1972, Jo met Donald “Don” Walker on a blind date that was set up by his fellow marine best friend, Steve Hoffman. Don turned out to be the love of her life and just six months later, on August 31, 1972, they were married. Together they built a loving home in Loveland and raised two children, Heather and Jeremy.
Jo loved being a mom and a homemaker and was able to stay home while Heather and Jeremy grew up. She also worked part time as a teller at Home State Bank, Centennial Bank and American Bank, off and on, while raising her kids. Jo remained very involved in Heather and Jeremy’s lives right up until the end. She was a very proud and devoted nurse mom and police officer mom.
Jo was a collector. She loved and collected angels, butterflies, dolphins, seashells and anything beach themed. There also was a frog and watermelon era. She collected Jim Shore and Charming Tails figurines, as well. She loved feeding the squirrels and birds and would have them waiting at the front door to be hand fed peanuts. Once the kids were grown, Jo and Don took numerous vacations to the east coast where Jo could be at the ocean hunting for seashells and Don could golf. After Don passed away, Jo enjoyed pulling weeds, taking care of all the roses Don planted and doing yard work. She would spend hours outside getting the front and backyard looking pristine and then go inside and enjoy a nice cold mountain dew.
Jo was beloved as a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, and will be dearly missed. She leaves behind her daughter Heather Skirvin and husband Brian of Loveland; and her son Jeremy Walker, wife Larissa and son Hagen of Cheyenne, Wyoming; as well as her beloved cat Lolita, that helped her after Don’s death. Lolita was with Jo until the very end and was watching over her when she took her last breath at the Pathways Hospice Inpatient Care Center.
Jo is also survived by her brother John Stuart and wife Pat of Loveland; sister Judy Mullison and husband Bill of Gladsden in Alabama; nephews Todd Stuart, Randy Stuart, Jim Mullison, and Dave Mullison; and her niece Christina Feldhus. Her amazing neighbors, Jim and Suzy Cleaveland, were a godsend after Don’s passing. Heather and Jeremy cannot thank them enough for all they did for mom. Along with her husband Don Walker, Jo is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Wanda Stuart.
A Celebration of Jo's Life will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025 at 11am at Resthaven Funeral Home in Fort Collins, Colorado followed by a Graveside Service at 12:30pm at Loveland Burial Park, where Jo will be placed to rest with Don. Please join the family back at Resthaven for a lunch reception and a time of fellowship & remembrance.
