Martin J. Edema, a victim of sudden heart failure at the age of 32, exemplified the professional Life Insurance Agent. As a member of the Grand Rapids Association of Life Underwriters, Marty was a leader with unlimited enthusiasm and dedication to the needs of his clients.
Over $500,000 in contributions have been contributed over the past 34 years from the Matin J. Edema Memorial Golf Outing. Your support is greatly appreciated!
Widowed Persons Service of West Michigan
Widowed Persons Service has been providing valuable services to the newly widowed for over 40 years. WPS of West Michigan empowers people of all ages to overcome their grief and learn to embrace life fully again. We are a community of support facilitated by people who have been widowed. Our programs and resources are free for those who have recently experienced the death of a spouse.
WPS encourages acceptance of loss and active growth through grief, and values community and mentorship as a critical component of support during the healing process.
Because many of our staff, board members, and volunteers have experience loss of a spouse, we are an empathetic community that understands the complex emotions, changing family and relationship dynamics, and decisions that a newly widowed person faces.
WPS is dedicated to those who need assistance in a very traumatic time of need. Our hope is that each person who attends our group support meetings, will find themselves in a safe and supportive environment. We focus on the emotional, mental, and physical wellness of every person who seeks help and support.
