Fred and I were on the same Pony League team at North Shore Park. Coached by the great legend Gary Kelson. We later were teammates at Beach. Fred was a slick fielding second baseman who could turn a double play with great flare! Coincidentally, when I was working at the Bellagio a couple friends had sons who played baseball at a local Vegas high school. They mentioned the center fielder on the team. His name was Scotty Berke. I said he doesn't have a father named Fred does he? Of course the answer was yes! So, Steve Effenson and Gary Kelson were visiting and we went to see Scotty Berke play. Of course the proud dad was in the stands! We had a very nice reunion and watched his very talented son play ball. I'm glad we got to have that time together! RIP Fred!
