Mark Levinson

Mark and I became friends early one summer at Camp Ocala. We kept that friendship a lifetime and when I invited him to join us at the next to last reunion, he could only come for Friday at Eddie's as the Saturday he was being given an award for his charities.Always a kind and sensitive person. He and Scott Kovens used to argue over Suzy Fenton at Camp. Was cute! Little did I know that would be the last time I saw him. RIP, dear Mark.

When my family moved to Bay Harbor back in 1960, Mark Levinson was one of my first friends. Along with Steve Sheppard, Carl Gardner, Steve Riebel and others, we liked to play football, basketball and baseball at our elementary school field. Mark especially loved to play quarterback -- he was a talented, aggressive athlete who never backed down from a challenge...and years later (if I recall correctly), he became the starting varsity QB when he attended Ransom private school. That competitive spirit served Mark well when he became a successful jeweler and built his business from a small booth in Plantation to a national brand with a Las Olas Boulevard address in Ft. Lauderdale. Thanks to his success, Mark and his wife made many charitable contributions over the years...and it's no surprise that the former QB featured Miami Dolphins superstar Dan Marino on billboard ads for his store. Wish you were here to toss the pigskin around, Mark!
