Lee Nordstrom

2023-04-21

Lee Victor Nordstrom, born June 16, 1957, passed in his sleep on April 21, 2023. Born and raised in North Spokane, he graduated from Mead High School in 1975. He passionately loved baseball as a lifelong player, coach, and spectator. His other athletic passions included football, water skiing & squash. He was a competitive, fun soul even when it came to things like cornhole. In every setting, he was a reliably well-dressed, presentable man. He recognized quality craftsmanship and so began his career in men's clothing & fashion merchandising. This started after college in Eureka, CA, and later in Seattle where he worked as a buyer for The Squire Shop. In 1987, he went into business for himself and opened "Chips Resort" in Bellevue Square. A short time later, he moved back to Spokane and bought Pierone's. A pivot in careers came in 1992 when he became a stockbroker at Dean Witter. Nearly 30 years later in 2020, he retired from Vorpahl Wing Securities. With a stand-up, shake-your-hand manner with an engaging personality, Lee seemingly made more friends than anyone in town. He made a practice of learning names and relating to everyone he met.  He is preceded in death by his father, Paul R. Nordstrom; parents, Mariann and Richard Hogtin; sister, Kay Nordstrom; brother, David Nordstrom; and nephews Henry and Hayden Nordstrom. He is survived by his wife, Kari E. Nordstrom; his son Vic Nordstrom; step-sons, Jack, and Austin Bithell; his brother, Paul M. Nordstrom (Deborah); step-mother, Clara ann Nordstrom; step-brothers, Jim (Linda), Glen (Jean) and Ross (Heather) Hogin; previous wives, Paige Gaspard and Nancy Nordstrom (Negretti); as well as many nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Services will be held Sat. May 13th at 2 PM at St. Luke Luther Church, 9704 N. Division St., Spokane.
