Kriss Dry Brent
1993-07-01On July 1, 1993, Kristina Dry Brent died from massive Internal injuries suffered from a car accident. The accident was caused by a drunk driver. Kriss was only 36. She had so much to live for and so much she has left behind.
After graduating from high school, Kriss attended Kinman Business University. She graduated a year later with a secretarial degree. In July 1976 she married a Canadian. Byron Brent. Byron Is a lineman for Kootenay Power Co. In Canada. Kriss moved to Canada with her husband and for a year she owned a plant shop In Fernie B.C.
Later they moved to Salmo B.C. and bought a 20 acre farm. Kriss loved the farm and had the best green thumb In the area. She had a huge garden with tomato plants over 7 feet tall, canned their own vegetables, raised chickens, milked cows (by hand), plowed the fields and even plowed the roads with 5 feet of snow. Plus, she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for several years at a local lumber mill.
Kriss has 3 beautiful children: April 17, Amber 14 and her son B.J. 12. It was a few years ago when Kriss had witnessed a serious snowmobile accident Involving her 2 daughters that changed her life. Both girls recovered due to the lifesaving skills of paramedics. It had such an effect on Kriss that she decided she wanted to become a paramedic. She studied hard and passed her test. Kriss worked on an ambulance in the Salmo area. She loved her new career and she felt good about having the chance to give back to her community. She was dedicated and an Inspiration to her family.
When she died, her friends, the surrounding communities and the members of the ambulance crews of B.C. held a special memorial service to honor and pay tribute to her memory and her services. The service was very emotional and the hall was filled to capacity with many people standing outside waiting to pay their respects.
The pain and loss of Kristina runs deep. She will be missed by her family, friends, the community and most of all her children. Anyone wishing to make inquiries of Kriss are welcome to do so. In her memory, as you enjoy your reunion with friends, please remember: Don't Drink and Drive.
