Mike Hansen
2009-03-09On March 9, 2009 after celebrating the marriage of good friends in Las Vegas, NV, Mike was unexpectedly called home to heaven. On July 8, 1957 Mike was born to Cliff and June Hansen in Logan, UT, spending most of his youth in Spokane and graduating from Mead High School in 1975. After sitting in a police car at the age of three, Mike always knew he wanted to be a police officer. In March of 1979, Mike was hired by the Washington State Patrol as a trooper and had just celebrated his 30th. year at the time of his death. Mike's last 18 years have been as a WSP Detective working in various task forces throughout the State of Washington. Mike thoroughly enjoyed the working relationships and friendships he had with the WSP, Spokane Police Department, Spokane County Sheriff's Office, Airport Police, local counties, FBI and the U.S. Border Patrol. Mike was an avid music lover, guitar player and motorcycle enthusiast. He enjoyed his time spent with family and friends riding the back roads on his Harley. Mike lived his life to the fullest and died on his own terms in his own way. The day prior to his passing he was celebrating a wedding surrounded by good friends and wearing his favorite Elvis shirt. Mike's greatest joy was time spent with family, friends and the children that live in his culdesac. After his passing one of Mike's little buddies said they couldn't ask for a better angel to look over them from heaven. Mike is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife Tracy Hansen; sons Ryan and Jason Hansen; mother June Hansen; brothers Steve, Mark and Craig Hansen; lifetime friend and WSP brother Rick Beghtol; nieces, nephews and his good friends, You know who you are! Mike was preceded in death by his father Cliff Hansen. Mike is Tracy's greatest life's gift and she'll love him until her last breath on her last day. She looks forward to uniting with Mike again at Heaven's Rainbow Bridge. Funeral Services 10:00AM Thursday March 19, 2009 at Assumption Catholic Church, 3624 W. Indian Trail Road. A reception and graveside service will follow. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Mike's memory to the Washington State Patrol Memorial Foundation, P.O.
