Matt Veale

VEALE, Matthew Alan (1956 - 2017)

The Lord released Matthew from his pain on June 15th, 2017. Ascending to the loving arms of Our Father, Matt joins his parents Warren and Helen Veale, and his dear niece, Paula Foster, in Heaven to watch over the family and friends awaiting their opportunity to see him again. Matthew was born in Moses Lake, WA at Larson Air Force Base on December 7th, 1956. He was the fourth son born to Warren and Helen and would become the fourth of six children after his little sister and younger brother completed the family. The first eight years of Matt's life was spent moving from base to base with his dad's work in the service, before settling in Spokane, WA in 1971.

He graduated from Mead High School in 1975. Matt had a passion for adventure and was quite the risk-taker. The extensive traveling, at a young age, motivated him to see it all and do it all. Matt was an extremely hard worker and avid story teller. His travels working for the railroad for several years gave him wisdom beyond his years and plenty of material for some unbelievable stories that he gladly shared. He enjoyed the outdoors and always looked forward to his annual hunting trip with his brothers and nephews. "Big Matt" helped keep the Veale clan together by throwing 4th of July parties at his home on Loon Lake for over 35 years, which was no small task with a group that always numbered 50+. It brought him great joy to see others having fun, connecting, and keeping the family together. Matt loved his family dearly, and lived each day to the fullest. He persevered through several life challenges, but met each one with determination, strength, faith and love.

Matt is survived by his siblings: Gary (Christine) Veale, Brian (Carolyn) Veale, Arthur (Michele) Veale, Marcia (Eric) Bertholf, and Michael (Babe) Veale; along with numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and his cherished cousins in New York. Matt shared his knowledge, his sense of humor, and his big heart with everyone who was lucky enough to know him. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Kathy with Columbia Medical and Mimi at Fresenius Dialysis for their amazing care and devotion to Matt.
