The 14th Annual MHSEF Ski-A-Thon Challenge, January 14, 2023. This fundraising activity is performed entirely by the athletes of Mt. Hood Race Team & Academy to raise funds that support their ski racing programs. This is our primary winter fundraising event that includes all our families. The event is fun for all ages, with great prizes and awards!
Funds raised by the Ski-A-Thon Challenge will be used to obtain equipment necessary to support athlete training and programing. Every year the Foundation spends thousands of dollars to purchase gates, drills, radios and other training hill equipment. Our equipment gets a lot of use and needs periodic replacement to keep things current and safe. Here are some examples of the equipment and associated costs:
1 gate = $50
1 replacement shaft = $25
1 stubby gate = $25
1 brush = $15
1 B-net safety fence* = $380
1 USSA coaching membership = $175
1 coach season pass = $450
1 radio = $375
Pallet of Salt = $350
Racing Bibs = $5000
150 Kids smiling and ripping turns = Priceless
* We use PNSA net, so we don’t have to buy net. However, it’s good cost awareness item for our athlete safety and we manage over 100 rolls for PNSA.
