Take A Soldier/Veteran Fishing - Oregon

Raised by 1 donors.

Take A Soldier Fishing, Oregon, is a non-profit 501c3 organization that honors our veterans and active duty military for their service to our nation by providing a free day of fishing.  Events in 2018 are scheduled for Henry Hagg Lake near Forest Grove Oregon May 19 and at Odell Lake, Shelter Cove Resort, July 13 through 15 with fishing on the 14th.

Why should we honor veterans by taking them fishing?  The 5 basic reasons are: 1)  Physical Exercise      2) Reduces Symptoms Associeated with TBI and PTSD     3) Puts You in The Sun      4) Teaches Patience      5) It's Just Fun.    To learn more about the benefits veterans receive from fishing, go to our website

Volunteers with and without boats take veterans or active duty military out fishing for the day.  At Hagg Lake, the targetted species are trout, bass and bluegill.  At Odell, they target trout and Kokanee.  Odell includes camping.

All veterans and active duty military from any branch of the service may participate.  These events thank our veterans for their service and we serve persons of all abilities and socio economic background.  We serve many veterans from VA housing programs.

A day of fishing and relaxation among those who have served our nation to protect our freedom, is a form of Therapy for many.  Will you help us?  We need to achieve our funding goal annually to continue to provide free fishing events including licenses for those who need them, lunch, AM refreshments, fishing supplies, promotional materials, and event insurance.
