Allyson Brodhecker (Heinrich)
1980-07-25Well, as you know, Allyson graduated from NHS in 1976. In 1977 we accepted jobs at Grand Canyon National Park. She was in housekeeping and I was food and beverage. We stayed out there for 5-6 months. When we returned to Indiana Allyson's friend Nancy Folmar helped us find employment at Central State Hospital. With all the cray-crays. She married John Brodhecker in April 1980. On July 19, 1980 Allyson and John came over to our apartment for a day of swimming, partying, eating pizza and going to a concert at Market Square Arena to see her favorite band Heart. After the concert we decided to play putt putt golf. Around 1am I gave Allyson a hug and told her I was tired and that I loved her. That was the last thing I said to her. She was in a car accident on their way home. Her husband fell asleep at the wheel, ran off I-465, and the car flipped over and over with my sister inside. She passed away a few days later. My takeaway from this is that at least me telling her that I loved her was what she took with her.
