WILLIAM FITCH Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stuart Mortuary, Inc. - Indianapolis on Aug. 20, 2025.
Publish in a newspaperWilliam Fitch, Jr. was born to William Fitch, Sr., and Alvina J. Fitch on December 3, 1957, in Indianapolis, Indiana. William had three sisters and two brothers. William was affectionately called "Billy" by loved ones and friends, and school mates called him "Fitch".

Billy accepted Christ and he was baptized at the tender age of eleven years at Mt. Zion Freewill Baptist Church. Billy was the eldest sibling in the family, and he loved being a big brother. He always protected his siblings, loved to laugh with them (and occasionally at them), and always made his family a priority.

Billy had a love of sports and throughout school he played multiple sports, including baseball, football, and he even wrestled. He enjoyed watching sports on TV and would often watch games with his dad or other family members. And if that game went wrong in any way, you would hear all about it from Billy, LOL!

Billy also had a passion for music of all kinds and had a nice voice and loved to sing. During Jr. High he had a small band and they performed at the school talent show. We enjoyed concerts together and playing our 45's and albums. Billy graduated from Northwest High School in 1976.

Being raised by such an excellent cook inspired Billy to cook also. He attended a culinary school and enjoyed cooking for family and friends. More than a few people would beg him to bake those delicious cherry cobblers, peach cobblers, caramel cakes, cookies and more.

On May 1, 1999 William united in Holy Matrimony with Larenta Maria Cole. He had one son previous to marriage, Freddie Townsley, and William and Maria had a son during marriage, William Jalen Fitch.

True to Billy's nature, he developed a close relationship with his mother-in-law, Loretta. They grew to love each other as true family, and Loretta was always in Billy's corner, supporting and encouraging him in tough times and cheering him in good times.

On March 5, 2017 Billy rededicated his life to Christ at Unity of Faith. He was a devoted member and had a desire for his family to join him in serving the Lord. Since it was a new church, Billy did whatever he could to help out. He often sang with the praise team or offered a solo.

William Fitch departed this life on August 13, 2025, at the age of sixty-seven years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alvina J. Fitch; brother, Alvin D. Fitch, and sister, Tonya Rogers.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Larenta Maria; two sons, Freddie Townsley and Jalen Fitch; father, William Fitch, Sr., two sisters, Belinda Jones (Alan) and Mary Williams (James); brother, Jeremy Fitch (Julie), four nephews, four nieces, a host of relatives and friends.
