Dr. Victor Kennedy was found deceased at 10:00 am on March 6, 2024 by his daughter, Vickie.

Born in Washington, DC and raised in Silver Spring, Maryland, Dr. Victor Kennedy has lived a life of distinction with an unwavering commitment athletic excellence and public service despite a tragic loss. He had a stellar performance as a high school and college wrestler. In early 1981, he began his 15-year career as an amateur drug-free powerlifter, winning state and national titles with his state and national record performances. In 1981, he was also devastated by tragedy when he lost his older brother to a drunk driver. Powerlifting provided him with a productive outlet while he mourned his brother's untimely death. Competing in 1992, he squatted a new ADFPA (American Drug-free Powerlifting Association) record 944.95 lbs., the highest drug-tested lift in the history of powerlifting. While getting started in powerlifting, Victor also began his career with the Montgomery County Police in 1983. He worked as a uniformed officer until 1994, twice elected Vice President of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #35 from 1989 to 1993. He was promoted to detective where he worked until he retired in 2012. From 1988 to 1993, Victor volunteered his time with MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) by speaking at impact panels and other events. He began teaching bible studies in 1993, and he earned his Ph.D. in Theology and Philosophy in 2017, after ministering for 24 years.

I haven’t seen Victor in many years, but remember him to be one of the kindest, friendliest people I knew at Northwood. I am very sad to hear of his passing.
