I retired from St. Alphonsus in 2015 after 26 years. My husband Jim and I go to Lake Havasu AZ every winter for 6 months. We have been going there for 5 years now. We own a lot in Lake Havasu RV Resort and we very much enjoy spending time there. It is always great to come home to Boise though.

Comment:   After graduation I went to Cosmotology School and got my license which I still have. I got married and had a daughter almost nine years later. I got divorced after 11 1/2 years. I worked at Mercy Hospital  for almost nine years as a Physical Therapy Aide and then went to Elks Rehabilation in Boise after my divorce. I worked there almost six years. I then went to work for St. Alphonsus RMC and have been there 22 years still working in Physical Therapy. I got married again to Jim Hiatt nine years ago. Jim and I have a 2 year old grandaughter by my daughter and her husband Justin and we have twin grandaughters by his son Shane. We continue to live in Boise and I'm looking forward to retiring in 7 or 8 years.

After graduation, I served in the United States Navy for five years and am a Vietnam veteran.  I graduated from the University of Idaho in 1980 with a Bachelors degree in Science and Agri/Business, received a Bachelors degree in Education from Northwest Nazarene University (NNU) in 1989, and a Masters degree in Administration and Principalship in 1997 from NNU.  I was a teacher in the Vallivue School District for 10 years.  During that time, he owned and operated two businesses, Roller Magic and Water Magic.  I taught 2nd grade at the elementary level and science at the middle school and high school levels.  I received the secondary Teacher of the Year award for Vallivue School District while teaching physical and life sciences in 1997 and was an administrator in Vallivue for two years.  Since coming to the Nampa School District in 1998, I have worked as the assistant principal for South Middle School for two years and am currently the Lead Building Administrator for Nampa High School since 2000.





I married my high school sweetheart, Kristine Goering, in 1975.  We have three sons, Daniel, Matthew, and Alexander, all who live in the Nampa area.  I am the president of the Southern Idaho Conference of Principals (SIC) and serve on the board of the Nampa Church of the Brethren.  I am also active on the Board for PAL (Police Activities League) and have served for over thirty years on the board of my church's intergenerational summer camp in Meadows, Idaho.

Comment:  The summer after High School I started working for the Social Security Administration in Boise and started attending Boise State.  It was at BSU that I met my wife Barbara Wertz from Glenns Ferry ID who was also a music major. She got her degree in music education but I switched majors. I enjoyed the work at Social Security and have been with them ever since.  I retired in 2009 after 38 years with SSA.  I was retired for 7 months before they asked me to come back to work.  They gave me an offer I could not refuse - full retirement and a full pay check.  So I am still working there completing my 40th year but planning on stopping by the end of this year.  My career has taken me from Boise, to Ontario OR, Caldwell ID, Pocatello ID, Yakima WA, Tacoma WA and now in Puyallup WA.

 



Barbara and I have been married since August 1974 and we have two children.  Jennifer is currently living in Seattle WA, working for ESPN marketing all of their dot com sites.  My son Joe lives in San Jose CA working for Apple Computer as a software engineer.  If you have seen the program iBooks he wrote all of the user interface for that program.  Joe and his wife gave us our first grand child in November of last year.  No fun having them in California.



 



My other interest is and has been sports officiating.  In the past I have worked as an official in baseball, slow pitch softball, and volleyball.  I still am officiating football, basketball, and fast pitch softball.  Most of the work has been at the high school level but I have also worked at the college level in some sports.  I am currently an Executive Board member of the Washington Officials Association.  This organization is responsible for all of the school sports officials, for all sports, in Washington.

What happened in the last 50 years?  Well let's see.  There was college, actually 3 of them, and a science degree studying mathematics.  I learned to fly and acquired 2 1/8 airplanes.  My first career was in the computer world, starting in aerospace, coding flight software for the Space Shuttle.





Mid life brought me a wonderful wife and family.  I now have 1 granddaughter.  Yes, she is adorable!





We built a cabin on the edge of the wilderness and try to unwind our busy lives there.





I had a second career flying airplanes, mostly floatplanes in Southeast Alaska.  I still fly my own plane for travel and pleasure.  Two summers ago I was able to sample whale blubber from Grandma's Kitchen in Tuktoyaktuk , Northwest Territories Canada.





My wife Elisabeth and I live in Moscow with our dog, Spodie Odie.  Life is grand and full of blessings.
