Comment:

Forty years?  Wow!  Where did the time go? Let me just begin by saying my greatest accomplishments are my two daughters. Morgan, 27, just bought her first house in Portland. Kinsey, 19, is attending  school at Washington University in St. Louis. So proud of both of them!

As stated in the 1991 autobiography for the 20th reunion, I married Glenna for comic relief in 1977. Must have stopped laughing cuz she filed for divorce August 1997, and got it.

She also got the Miata and most of the house. I was able to save the jeep and was so broke up over losing the Miata that I replaced it with a '68 Mustang, cuz I could work on it and do a lot.

Then one sunny afternoon with a box of Jiffy Corn Bread Mix, I met the neighbor, Susan, who lives across the culdesac. She is a retired school teacher from Long Beach and she really knows how to cook. The traffic is not too bad crossing the culdesac so I spend a lot of time over there.

As far as work goes, one cold January day I noticed the other linemen that I work with talking to their accountants on their cell phones and using their Laptop Tough Book computers installed in the line trucks while I still unfolded a 3 foot by 2 1/2 foot paper circuit map for reference. I haven't made the leap to technology yet.

I also notice not too many 58 year old linemen in this trade. So, now there is one less!  I retired February 2011. IT IS GREAT!

Okay, at this point if anyone bothered to read this I feel I should leave the reader with a profound statement. Lets see what I got in my kit. Oh!  This is a good one! "If you are not living on the edge you're taking up too much space."

Enjoy the reunion!  Mitch

Comment: So these are our golden years hmm not what I had in mind.  I moved to Meridian in 2000 after my mothers passing.  My little house is cozy and I love the garden.  After 10 years it's shaping up.  I work at a small surgery center/ hospital in the records department.   I  feel very lucky having been down sized at the Salvation Army to have found a good match at this time and economy.  My daughter Susie and son in law Ward live here in Boise and I love grandparenthood having an 8 year old granddaughter Becca and baby grandson this last Feb. Ryan.  I met a nice man 1 1/2 years ago and we seem to still like each other so I'm hoping this one sticks.  (Try Try again.)  Life is good and the future is sure to come.  I'll see you friday for the mixer.

Nancy Lutz (Bolstridge)

Marital status: Married
Children: 2
Occupation: Retired Elementary Teacher
Comment: Terry Lutz (NHS class of '70) and I were married in 1975, and we celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary this summer.  I graduated from Boise State University in 1975, taught elementary school for 26 years, and retired in 2001. Terry, also, was able to retire three years ago as American Paving Company V.P. when the company was sold in 2008. We have two sons (ages 24 and 27) who both live in Boise; and my parents, both well and very active at ages 88 and 90, also live in Boise. Terry and I have lived in Eagle for the past 16 years. We're now spending more time with theater and music, gardening and travel...and also, since I've always wanted to play the piano, I finally started last year--with lessons from local musician, Gayle Chapman (Prince's first keyboardist--fun!)  :)

Virginia Lynskey (Tackett)

Richard Mabe

Marital status: Married
Occupation: Retired from Federal Civil Service
Comment: Since high school, I have travelled the world serving first as an NCO then as an officer in the US Air Force, followed by 30 years as a civilian employee of the Air Force.  When I retired I was working for the Air Force Cost Analysis Agency in Washington, DC.

My wife and I now live in Rhode Island near some of our children and grandchildren.  We are also very active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, which is not well known in Rhode Island.  We try to spend time as well with our grandchildren, but they are scattered across America.  We love to travel - espcecially cruising - and have a time share in Hawaii.  The time share is the best investment I ever made!

I have not been in Idaho since the 20 year reunion in 1991, but still miss the state and the people.  I read the Statesman on line every day to keep up.

I graduated from Boise State in 1977 with a BS in Geology, but have never been a geologist.  I accepted a commission in the AF after graduating, and spent the next 10 years as a logistics analyst.  The AF then sent me to grad school for a Masters in Ops Research.  I have spent the last 30 years doing cost analysis and developing cost models for IT, cyber and networking systemsin the Department of Defense.

I have traveled to every state in the US, to Canada and Mexico, to most of the islands in the Carribean, and to several countries in Europe and the Middle East.  I was stationed in Germany with the AF, and did short stints in Saudi Arabia and Turkey.  I even spent a year in language school in 1972 learning Laotian - which was needed then to support the war in Southeast Asia.

I have been married twice (the second one is eternal), and have 6 wonderful children and (so far) 6 beautiful grand children.  The oldest grandchild is 22 - but so far I am not a great-grandfather.

Mike Mabey

Marital status: Married
Children: 2
Occupation: Graphic Designer
Comment: After high school I played and traveled with a group called Young Americans in Concert. While playing with them, we toured the New England states and 6 countries in Europe. As part of the tours, we played Carnegie Hall and also played in the White House for then president Nixon. In England we played a command performance for the Queen in Royal Albert Hall, for the King of Luxembourg, and in Rome we played a command performance for the Pope.

After that I attended The College of Idaho for a couple of years while I also auditioned at several orchestras around the country (yep, still traveling). During my college years I played with the Boise Philharmonic and the orchestras at the College and also at NNC (now NNU).

AFter college I got the wanderlust again and started traveling around the United States. I worked at a LOT of different jobs before settling into the printing and graphic design industry. I settled in Colville, Washington for a few years (north of Spokane) and started working for the local newspaper. It wasn't very long before I was bored again, so I established my own print shop and struck out on my own again. During this time I got married and now have 2 daughters, Laura (28) and Lisa (24), and a grandson Aiden (6) all who live in San Antonio, Texas.

Fast forward a few years and I've sold my business, been through a divorce, moved to Spokane, remarried to Donna (best thing I ever did), and now work for the Spokane newspaper, The Spokesman-Review. I've been there 15 years working in the Prepress Department. I do graphic design work, ad processing, web projects, and all the special one-of-a-kind projects for the owners. It's pretty fun and sometimes challenging. When I married Donna I gained another daughter, Cathy, and two more grandsons, Jacob (22) and Beau (14).

While living in Spokane, I played for 6 years with the Spokane Symphony. I also played and sang at church every week, and I started writing and recording some of my own music.

Who knew getting to this point in my life would be so interesting. We've all used the phrase, "If I had only known then what I know now..." Well, there are very few things I would change (although there are a couple of experiences I could have done without), because my life has been rich in experiences and travel, and now I get to spend my remaining years with Donna. All-in-all, it's been a really good life.

Susan Mabey (Wilkerson)

Marital status: Married
Children: 2
Occupation: Retired Teacher
Comment: I agree. This was an incredibly fast 40 years! I enrolled in Northwest Nazarene College in the fall, not really knowing what I wanted to major in. I did know I wasn't interested in Home Ec or in education but left it up to prayer. So of course I graduated with a degree in Home Economics Secondary Education and got a teaching job at Vale Union High School. It seems to have worked out pretty well as I taught there as the home ec, or the Family and Consumer Sciences techer, for 30 years until I retired in 2005 - loving nearly every min.

After my first year of teaching I married John Mabey (NHS class of 1970) and we have 2 kids. Aaron is 30 and finishing at BSU with hopes of medical school. Megan is 3 years younger, working off and on through her third year at BSU and has the light of our lives - our 6-year-old grandson Zach.

The newest phase of our lives has just started last summer. John now is a travel nurse so we put our belongings into storage, rented our house out and moved into a large RV. We move every few months to a new job assignment and are getting to experience new communities. So far, we have only been in Oregon and Idaho because of my mom and health issues, but now that she is okay our travels should branch out a little further afield. You never know where life will take you, do you?
