Comment: I have been married to my wonderful wife, (Linda Patterson), since 1975. We have a son and a daughter and 3 granddaughters. Lots of girls in my house! I play baseball and tennis in my spare time, if I not working on my car, (1966 MGB). Travelled some, went to Scotland in 2007 and we are going back there next year, (I really like the place). When I think about High School, it doesn't seem that long ago but then I remember its been 40 years. My, how time flies when you're having fun. |

Comment:
To all of you who have already retired - how did you do that? I think we're the same age, and I have years to go before retiring! After college, I went to University of Washington School of Medicine, through the WAMI program, then Utah for residency, and then started solo private practice in Boise. I married Larry Standley in 1979, after our mothers set us up on a blind date. After 7 years in Boise, we moved to Newberg, Oregon, for many good reasons, none of which seemed to matter after we got there. After two years of too many clouds and green hills blocking the horizon (the hills are supposed to be brown in the summer), we moved back to Boise. I was one of the first two physicians for St Luke's Internal Medicine, and I am still working full time for them. Now I have colleagues who are 25 years younger- it feels really weird sometimes. We have two sons, Brian and Eric. Brian will finish his PhD in applied physics at Calteach this fall. He married a wonderful young woman that he met at Caltech, who will finish her PhD this summer also, in plasma physics. Eric has finished his first year at MIT working on his PhD in organic chemistry. He married a beautiful, sweet, smart young woman from Boise just three weeks ago. We are so lucky to have wonderful daughters-in-law (although I may sing a different tune if we don't get some grandchildren soon!) I am looking forward to seeing everyone again. |
