Penny (Rae) Bond (Young)

Marital status: Married
Children: 2
Occupation: Executive Director - Medical Society and Foundation
Comment: After graduation, I worked for the Idaho Free Press and United Press International in Boise and went to college in my free time! In 1977, I moved to Washington, DC, to be press secretary for US Rep. Steve Symms ... fully planning to move back to Idaho. Love intervened and after getting married in 1978, we stayed in DC for 17 years. The last 10 years in DC, I was director of public affairs for the National Governors' Association, which was an amazing job! In 1994, we moved to Chattanooga, TN, where my husband pastored a huge church.  During our Tennessee years, I have been executive director of a couple organizations and I have started some nationally recognized initiatives to strengthen families and to expand health care access for the uninsured.  Since 2002, I have been executive director of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Society, Medical Foundation, Project Access, and Medical Personnel Services.  We serve a rural church in Charleston, TN, on the weekends.  We have two sons, Daniel, who is 31 and a lawyer in Chicago, and John-Michael, 27, who is a writer (and stand-up comedian) in Chattanooga and surrounding areas. No grand kids yet ... but two grandcats and two granddogs... not the same as grandkids, but we manage! I still love music and play piano a lot and (occasionally) bassoon and accordion! I hope to get back for the reunion but it is a little iffy at the moment. My mother and siblings still live in Nampa, so I get back at least once a year, but usually dictated by weddings and other family events.  I will always remember with gratitude Mrs. Gunderson, who made me realize I could write, and Mr. Schenk who instilled personal discipline through marching band practice and his occasional comments about the way I flubbed his musical instrument of choice -- the bassoon... Blessings to you all!

John Boyd

Marital status: Married
Children: 2
Occupation: Project Manager/City of Meridian
Comment: I joined the Marine Corps just after High School, served 4 years. After service I went to BSU and received a 2 year AAS Drafting degree.

I worked around the Treasure Valley in the Engineering field for about two years and ended up as Resident Engineer on an Airport Project in Ely, Nevada for a local Engineer. I spent 6 years at a mine there.

While in Ely I met my wife Natalie in 1980 and we married in 1983. So we've been together over 30 years now and still going strong. We then moved to Winnemucca in 1986 where I worked at another mine for a little more than two years before going to work with the City of Winnemucca as the Assistant City Engineer for 11 years.

In 2000 we decided to move back to the Treasure Valley where I worked for the City of Nampa for 7 months and have now been with the City of Meridian as a Project Manager for 10 years. I expect to retire in 2015 with 30+ years of public service.

I still enjoy motorcycles and fast cars and we currently have 2 Harleys, a 1991 Corvette ZR-1 and a 1972 Chevy Nova. I go to Firebird Raceway often. Yep, I'm still Drag racing after 40 years.

We have a daughter; Ashley (1986) who is currently attending BSU and working at DirecTV. I also have a son Lynn (from my first marriage) and a grandson; Quentin John Boyd. Q is the highlight of our lives and is currently almost 5 years old.

See you all the Reunion.
