Comment: I have great memories of being a Parkette, and am thankful for the patience of Karen Hyde who taught me the dances for tryouts in her basement.   I had two left feet and very little dance experience, but she helped me to learn the steps and listen to the beat in the music, and I am grateful to her for her time and efforts.  I had many other teachers, such as my Unit leaders, Linda, Sue, and Marti Starr; so thankfully, I got better & felt comfortable dancing & cheering.  WOW!  What fun we had...cheering at the Viking Games outside at the Old Met Stadium--Brr! We had to wear layers of tights and nylons to combat the cold Minnesota winters--parades where the asphalt was so hot I thought the soles of my boots would melt (definitely keeps your feet moving & your knees up!); half-time shows at the Stadium & at school; park Petites; Pom-Pom girls & football games in St. Louis Park; and of course, Spring Break trips to Florida/Bahamas & to Hawaii.  I think the tropical trips left sand in my shoes, which influenced my move to Key West in 1984, where I later earned my degree in Education.  But, best of all, were the friendships made, and the feeling that comes with being a part of something so special...50th Anniversary!  WOW! Thanks for the fun times & the great memories!
